About
Weird is one jape a lot of people use. For the few, however, it’s all a matter of perspective and viewpoint.
An incoming senior student taking up Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, this nineteen-year-old bunso from a family of four loves anything that involves programming and codes. Ruffy Heredia graduated from Sacred Heart School-Jesuit in Cebu City as the I.T. Excellence Awardee for batch 2007, and is an avid fan of freelance website development. He has a certain bias though for the back-end side of things – with no pun intended.
A lot of people actually describe him as someone who laughs and smiles a lot – a manifestation of his inner desire to make the most of this sole life we have by going all-out on things and never looking back. His highschool yearbook quotation reads “Regrets are but those actions that have taught you to become the better person you are today,” which showcases his train of thought that by looking back and worrying about the past too much, we deprive ourselves with the beauty that only a well thought-of future can give.
He’s not the most fit of web geeks, but he loves sports and engaging in healthy competition. Though he couldn’t really give outstanding physical exam results when he was acting as the Corps Executive Officer of the SHS-J CAT-1 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he’d take up any invitation to play a pick-up game of basketball and would even play softball during the intramural season. He loves to be in motion, and joining these activities allows him to do so.
Service is also something that’s not hard to relate to him – just last year, he served as the Secretary-General of the UPVCC Student Council, among others. He is currently the Vice-President of the UP Computer Science Guild, and is also holding positions in different organizations such as the UP Basketball Association, Federation of Supreme Student Councils and Governments in Cebu City, and the Nagkahiusang Kusog sa Estudyante. Considered by his co-eds as an activist, many people mistakenly take him for a student of Political Science, arguing that Computer Science students are better off sitting in front of their laptops and delving into cyberspace.
He has also recently re-entered the blogging scene, having a good break between his freshman and senior years in college. He currently runs Real Life Dreams, a personal blog that tackles different issues that involve the human life experience, and is also the webmaster and site-owner of UP Batibot, a new online community portal site for the students of UP Cebu which he thought of pioneering with his good friends. Right now, he has added The Ruffy.com, his personal blogsite, and Redial Here, a personal-niche blog centering on social networks online and offline. He also currently works on different website templates for clients and edits them for the client’s use. He has experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, HTML/CSS, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL. He also has backgrounds in Server Administration, SEO, and Content-Management Systems such as Drupal, WordPress, and Joomla.
Being a die-hard Laker fan since 2000, he also makes it a point to watch every possible Lakers game on television. Aside from that, he loves to stroll around malls and just sitting down to talk about the most random of things. He has never smoked though, and he has no plans of doing so anytime soon.

And yes, he does love to hang out and talk. Don’t let that mean demeanor coupled with an instant smile fool you – he loves listening to your stories as much as you love telling them. He hopes to hear more about you by leaving comments when you read any of his future posts.
